Gold in 'em there Hills!

As you know, last weekend we went to visit MawMaw.
Full of excitement on the way there.
Snow?
Nope, that's cotton! The cotton was busting out big time at home.
Ok, so this is the answer to the hint.  We went panning for gold!
This place is only about 20 minutes from Mom's.  Believe it or not, I had never been.  Just one of those things you say, Oh, I'll do it one day.  So, this was the day!
This is the first place recorded that gold was found in the US.  Even before the big California gold rush.

Now, you know I am not afraid to work or get dirty, but I have to say this was a job!  Those pans can get heavy.  Davis had fun throwing rocks into the water.  :o)
He gets in on the action a little.
Chris and I both found a flake.  This is mine.  The picture is blurry, I guess the camera didn't know where to focus since my gold was so large.  See it?  It is laying about 2/3 down from the top of the bottle.
We had a big time.  Chris probably enjoyed it the most of anyone.  They also have some old mines you can tour, but I couldn't stand it. I don't really care for small spaces that don't have windows.
And lastly, for our adventures with nature.  Mawmaw has some plants that the butterflies just LOVE.  Can you see all the butterflies on this plant?  They were everywhere.
Little man held his first butterfly...
**There were no butterflies harmed in the making of these photos.**
