Jingle Bells

Last Friday was Davis' Christmas party at school.  They sang Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Rainbow Colors song.  It was really, really cute.  He was so excited to see us there and so proud to sing for us.

Here he is with his buddies, Alex and Richard.  These three are inseparable and have been so for almost 2 years now.
Can you tell how much we love this little boy!?!

This little boy that makes our heart swell with happiness and pride...

Birthday Celebration

I know, I know, it is almost Christmas and I am just now posting Davis' birthday pictures.  It has been a little crazy around here lately.  Better late than never....
It is a lot of work planning and preparing for little ones birthday parties.  I told a friend it is a lot like planning for a wedding.  There are months and months of work and then it is all over in just a few hours.  But when Davis told me it was the best birthday party in the whole wide world, it was worth it.  :o)  Granted he is saying that for everything these days.  Like, I am the best Mommy in the whole wide world.  Well, we knew that now didn't we?!
Davis you are the best Son in the whole wide world!  We love you more than words or pictures can express.

Our Little Buzz

Davis loves Toy Story so it was only fitting that he dressed as Buzz Lightyear for Halloween.
Trick or Treating at Gigi and Granddaddy's.
Our final stop was at Mrs Donna and Mr Mark's.

You have to see the wings in action.  Davis loves these wings.

The Pumpkin Patch

I am a little behind in my posts and have so much to share.  I'll start with our recent trip to the farm and pumpkin patch.
The first time I went to Mike's Farm, it was the year Chris and I were engaged and we went with some friends.  I fell in love!  It was my breath of country that I had been missing.  This place is literally out in the middle of nowhere, Back Swamp, NC.
We have only missed one year since then.  It truly is a magical place.  I would recommend it to anyone.
On our way to the pumpkin patch!

Looking for the perfect pumpkin with Daddy...
Found it!
While waiting to eat (the wait was 3 hours, if that tells you how popular this place is) we checked out some of the animals around the farm.
This is Pedro and Petey.

Then Davis showed off his dancing skills.

We had a great time and I look forward to this being a tradition with our family for years to come.

Gold in 'em there Hills!

As you know, last weekend we went to visit MawMaw.
Full of excitement on the way there.
Snow?
Nope, that's cotton! The cotton was busting out big time at home.
Ok, so this is the answer to the hint.  We went panning for gold!
This place is only about 20 minutes from Mom's.  Believe it or not, I had never been.  Just one of those things you say, Oh, I'll do it one day.  So, this was the day!
This is the first place recorded that gold was found in the US.  Even before the big California gold rush.

Now, you know I am not afraid to work or get dirty, but I have to say this was a job!  Those pans can get heavy.  Davis had fun throwing rocks into the water.  :o)
He gets in on the action a little.
Chris and I both found a flake.  This is mine.  The picture is blurry, I guess the camera didn't know where to focus since my gold was so large.  See it?  It is laying about 2/3 down from the top of the bottle.
We had a big time.  Chris probably enjoyed it the most of anyone.  They also have some old mines you can tour, but I couldn't stand it. I don't really care for small spaces that don't have windows.
And lastly, for our adventures with nature.  Mawmaw has some plants that the butterflies just LOVE.  Can you see all the butterflies on this plant?  They were everywhere.
Little man held his first butterfly...
**There were no butterflies harmed in the making of these photos.**

Big Castle

This video was on our way home from MawMaw's a couple of weeks ago.  Davis is singing his Nursery Rhymes when he spots....

The big castle is actually one of the old Churches downtown.  (Excuse the bedhead, he had been napping on the way home.)

We are at MawMaw's at this weekend and once again had another fun adventure.  Photos coming soon!  Want a hint?  It was "Golden"!  :o)

Vote for Madison!

Go Vote for Madison!
(isn't she the cutest!)

"Hello everyone, Madison went to her first LSU game this past weekend. She had her picture taken for tailgater of the year. You can go to www.gridirontour.com and click on tailgater votes in the upper left hand corner. She is on the first page, second row, last picture. PLEASE vote for her EVER DAY. She has on the purple LSU cheerleader outfit. She had a BLAST and was heckling the Carolina fan that was sitting next to Joey. Every time he would say something she would say “Tiger Bait”. She is my little cheerleader. Thanks for your supportJ Please feel free to pass this info along to anyone you know so she can get more votes and win tailgater of the year. Attached is a picture that is similar to the one on the website.
Love,
Holly and Madison"

Into the Deep

Today we went down to Myrtle Beach and visited Ripley's Believe it or Not Aquarium.
It had some interesting looking creatures.
This is some kind of Seahorse.  Lettuce or Weed Seahorse.
Some Rays...

and Jaws!
I thought Davis might be a little afraid of going in there with the sharks.  But, he wasn't.  He was very fascinated by them and all their teeth.
(nap time)

Reaching New Heights

First of all, I would like to say there is absolutely no way I would have done this as a child.  This thing seemed huge to me, I can only imagine how big it seemed to Davis.
He wasn't quite sure about it at first.  He wanted to go up it, but each time he would get half way up and turn around and come back down.  But then...

he did it!!!!
Here he is with the birthday boy, Hunter.
Happy Birthday Hunter!
And, if you want to see Davis in action...
